How Can Plastic Water Bottles Be Made Into Cozy Fibers?
You may have noticed in our shop we have a few items made from recycled water bottles. Specifically our Give a Damn short sleeve tees and Newly Blankets. Now you're probably wondering, aren't plastic water bottles going to be scratchy and uncomfortable! The answer is no! These items are so cozy and perfect for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.
There are a few companies that go through intense processes to convert plastic water bottles into fabric. For example our short sleeve Give a Damn tees are a mix of 50% Repreve® polyester from recycled plastic; 25% organic, US grown, combed, ring spun cotton; and 25% TENCEL™ Modal. Repreve converts this unwanted waste into soft, cozy materials. Through this process over 13 billion water bottles have been recycled and kept out of the landfills, oceans, and environment which is amazing! Check out this awesome video to get an idea about how the process works. If you're interested in learning more, if you YouTube search plastic water bottles to fabric there are SO many videos.
So all in all, this is a really cool process that results in an innovative fabric used to make awesome products like our short sleeve Give a Damn tees and the Newly blankets. Trust me, our tees feel super soft due to the blend of materials. And the Newly blankets are so cozy too! I've had a Newly blanket in my home for a few years now and I love the stretchy, soft feel to the blanket. Perfect for wrapping up & cuddling in.
