6 Easy Swaps to Reduce Plastic

Give a damn about the environment? Then maybe you've considered cutting down on the plastic products you purchase! Here are six easy swaps to make eco-friendly living easy! While we are a small business and don't carry all these products, we have referred you to a few reliable sustainable brands. I've worked with all the brands through The Honest Consumer, so they are trustworthy brands with high quality products.

Beeswax Wrap Reducing Plastic

1)Reusable Water Bottle
Invest in a reusable water bottle that is not made from plastic. My go-to is the Yuhme Water Bottle which is made from 100% sugar cane and still dishwasher safe. This water bottle is incredibly durable as I've had mine for three years. AND after this water bottle has lived a full life, it can be recycled!

2) Beeswax Wrap
Get rid of the plastic wrap in your life by purchasing Beeswax Wrap. Beeswax Wrap is a sustainable alternative made from fabric, oils, and beeswax. It works wonders when preserving food. Seriously, I use it all the time on fruits, vegetables, and cheeses. While this item may seem pricey compared to plastic wrap, it can actually save you money because you're able to wash and reuse the beeswax wrap. Definitely a good investment in eco-friendly living. Recyclable K-Cups

 3) Recyclable K-Cups
K-cups have been causing a lot of waste ever since the Keurig came out in the early 2000s. According to NPR in 2015 sixty billion K-Cups had gone into landfills which is crazy! The convenient and quick cup of coffee in minutes is hard to ditch! By switching to a recyclable k-cup this can lower the amount of plastic that our single serve coffees send to the landfill. My personal favorite recyclable k-cups come from the fair trade brand of coffee Singing Rooster.

4)Reusable Produce Bags
Cut down on those plastic produce bags by taking your own! Reusable produce bags can easily be thrown in the washer and taken on your  next trip to the grocery store. Check out reusable produce bags here.
