It's National Human Trafficking Awareness Day today! I wanted to take the time to introduce you to a few brands Give a Damn Goods carries that empower survivors of trafficking.
So what is human trafficking?? The Human Trafficking Hotline states, “Human trafficking is a crime involving the exploitation of someone for the purposes of compelled labor or a commercial sex act through the use of force, fraud, or coercion. Human trafficking affects individuals across the world, including here in the United States, and is commonly regarded as one of the most pressing human rights issues of our time.” The International Labour Organization estimates that there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally. And yes, unfortunately it happens here in America too....far too often!
Thankfully there are many wonderful social enterprises working with survivors to heal & re-enter society. Part of this is through dignified and reliable work opportunities surrounded by positive community members. Discover survivor made products from these ethical brands. By supporting their missions you're supporting the recovery process and fight against human trafficking.
